The Little Tractor That Could

James Little, owner of Little Tractor & Equipment Co. has a love of tractors that started at an early age.   As a young man, James started selling tractors as a hobby in addition to working a full time job.   He would buy used tractors, fix them up and sell them with a 30-day warranty.   He soon gained a reputation for his honesty and knowledge of the machines.

For several years he would work ten to twelve hour days at his own business as a contractor and then come home to sell tractors in the evening.   After a while, he gave up his carpentry business and decided to give tractors his full attention.

He worked from home his first year and after 'testing the waters' decided to look for a store front location in Metropolis.   In January of 2000 he opened his first commercial location and as of 2004 upsized the lot for the third time to it's current location at West 10th Street.
